2009...year of music

2009 is already ramping up to be a HUGE year in the rock music scene

In case you haven't heard by now, NO Doubt has reunited and WILL be touring in 2009. Their website confirms this with a chat session between band members on their home page.

Jane's Addiction has also reunited with their original line up. They have been playing small gigs throughout Los Angeles and rumors are that they will be headlining one night at Coachella. 6767.com is Dave Navarro's blog and he updates everyone on their gigs.

Another reunion that has rumored to take place and are set to tour in 2009 is none other than Led Zeppelin. Zeppelin reunited this past summer to play a gig in London which totally kicked ass.

Another group planning on reuniting before Coachella is The Smiths...Not a big Morrissey fan even though I'm hispanic...Sorry...

And for those into Country music, the following is confirmed for Stagecoach 2009

STAGECOACH 2009: official lineup as of 11/6/08
Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Reba McEntire, Kid Rock, Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert, Poco (Rich Furay, Jim Messina, Rusty Young, Paul Cotton), Charlie Daniels Band, Darius Rucker, Lady Antebellum, Reverend Horton Heat, Jerry Jeff Walker, Ricky Skaggs, Ralph Stanley, Lynn Anderson, Doyle Lawson, Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band, Danielle Peck, Dale Watson, Zac Brown Band, The Duhks, Waddie Mitchell, Randy Houser, Hot Club of Cowtown, James Intveld

KROQ Acoustic Christmas

Its that time of year again for predictions to the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas happening December 13th and 14th.

The following was posted on a site but taken down really fast which leads me to believe that this is the real deal.

Night 1 (Saturday): Nine Inch Nails, The Offspring, AFI, Weezer, Rise Against, Three Days Grace, Finger Eleven

Night 2 (Sunday): Metallica, The Killers, Death Cab for Cutie, Slightly Stoopid, Cold War Kids, The All-American Rejects, Jack's Mannequin, Shiny Toy Guns

I can almost confirm NIN for one of the dates as they are playing Las Vegas on December 12th.

Lars from Metallica mentioned somewhere that they were playing night two.

Nicole Alvarez from KROQ started talking about the concert and was saying I REALLY hope these guys are playing acoustic christmas and Offspring was mentioned.

New albums from the Killers, AFI, and no appearance by Weezer at Weenie Roast moves towards them playing KAAC this year.

The line up will be announced soon...keep tuned in

Hardcore Rave in the Sky

I just found out today that a DJ i used to look up to and was inspired by passed away. Jeff Besler aka DJ Tron from Chicago passed away doing what he loved best, in his studio preparing for a DJ set here in Los Angeles...He was 34.

I got into the underground Rave scene back in 1996. Tron (Torturous Rage of Noise) was one of the first DJ's I heard of. Known for his harder, darker, and extremely fast genre of Techno music, he was a huge inspiration for me to begin mixing what is known as Hardcore / Gabber underground music.

One of my best memories of him was a Rave in 1999 called Oracle. This rave was held in 3 different buildings in downtown Pomona with the Hardcore Techno room being held at Yesteryears night club. Tron was spinning an insane set. Picture the room about 100 x 100 feet. Two of the four walls had speakers from the ground to the ceiling with the dj booth in the middle. The crowd was the most insane I had ever seen. Speedcore at its finest with Tron going back to back with Delta 9, another famous Hardcore Techno dj. This was the first time that they had played together that I could remember. It was a fun night that ended with some bruised legs and ringing ears. Thanks Tron for the memories and inspiration. You will not be forgotten!

Halloween...

With Halloween just around the corner I thought this post would fit the season...Odd ways of dying.

You always hear about deaths that revolve around natural causes or diseases...but what about those weird deaths that you just shake your head and say what?!?!

Here are some notable odd deaths.

Carol Gotbaum, died trying to escape from police. No, she didn’t get shot down in a desperate escape. No, she didn’t careen off the highway on a high speed chase. She died by strangling herself trying to escape out of handcuffs.
---
In 2007, an unlucky cab driver found two bodies. One of a man and another of a woman, both attire-less and dead at a base a 50 story building in Columbia, South Carolina. Apparently the authorities found their clothing and identification at the top of the building. They fell off the building while having sex.
---
Jennifer Strange, died of water intoxication during a “Hold Your Wee for a Wii” contest in Sacramento, California. Can we say that the Wii is boring after 20 minutes and is only fun when you’re drunk. Oh…one more thing, she came in second. If you’re going to die for a Wii, you better well come in first place.
---
A 28-year-old Korean named Lee Seung Seop, (p.s. I am so ashamed. Way to represent my race, man), died in an Internet cafe after playing 50 straight hours of Star Craft.
---
You might have heard this guy, Timothy Treadwell, the subject of that documentary, ‘Grizzly Man.’ He lived with Grizzly bears in Alaska for 13 summers and one day, he was half-eaten by one while another ate his girlfriend. I used to live in Alaska, bears will eat you and they don’t want to be your friend. Period.
---
Brian Wells, rigged himself with a bomb around his neck and proceeded to rob a bank. This pizza deliveryman hatched the grandest of schemes that would make a heist in Ocean’s 11 seem tame. He would tell people that someone told him to rob a bank or the bomb around his neck would go off if he didn’t. Well, Brian forgot that he inadvertently made a real bomb and it went off. Thanks Brian, you still make people smile, four years later.
---
Canadian attorney Garry Hoy in Toronto wanted to show a group of potential lawyers how unbreakable the windows of the Toronto-Dominion Bank Tower were by hurling himself at them. After two demonstrations and 24 stories later, Mr. Hoy met the ground.
---
Isadora Duncan is a legendary dancer, but in 1927, she got herself into an ultimate fight against a car wheel. While riding in an automobile in Nice, France, her long silk scarf got caught in the wheel and dragged her until she died before the driver realized she had fallen off. Moral of the story? Don’t wear fashionable silk scarves in an open top car.
---
Former U.S. President William Henry Harrison showed that you really need to put a jacket on in the cold. He died one month into his term as President because he didn’t wear a coat during in inaugural speech. He died a month later of pneumonia.

Hope you enjoyed...Oh...and WHAT THE F IS UP WITH THE STORES SELLING CHRISTMAS STUFF ALREADY!!!! THE KOST ISN'T EVEN PLAYING CHRISTMAS MUSIC AND WAL FREAKIN MART IS SELLING CHRISTMAS MERCHANDISE!!!!

Dinner Conversation

So yesterday, the wife and I met up with some of her friends to have dinner at Claim Jumpers. They lived in Vermont while going to school for a few years so there was some catching up to do...

One question that I asked them half way through the dinner...

Me: "What airline is Vermont's regional airline?"

Them (including wife): "Huh?"

Me: "You know, like Southwest is the cheap regional airline for here, what's Vermont's?"

Well about 15 minutes of them trying to answer my question it came out that jetBlue was Vermont's regional airline.

I did the research for you and found the following airlines are for regional flights...
* Allegheny Airlines
* AmericanConnection
* ATA Connection (defunct)
* Bonanza Air Lines
* Continental Connection
* Continental Express
* Delta Connection
* Frontier JetExpress
* Frontier Airlines
* Midwest Connect
* Midway Connect (defunct)
* Mohawk Airlines
* North Central Airlines
* Northwest Airlink
* Pan Am Express (defunct)
* Piedmont Airlines
* Southern Airways
* Southwest Airways (renamed Pacific Air Lines in 1958)
* United Express
* US Airways Express
* West Coast Airlines
* America West Express (defunct, now operates as US Airways Express)
* American Eagle (extant, for detailed information about the brand refer to American Eagle, as discussed under Executive Airlines operations, and American Eagle Airlines code-share operations inherited from TWA Connection)

Something New

I tried something new today...

Using my computer mouse with my left hand. It was awkward at first but started getting used to it right away. I had to switch back though cause the cord wasn't long enough.

Long time....

Hello friends...non friends...

been a long time since i posted and i will tell you why...There were some illnesses in my family so i was keeping tabs on that...then...we get a call that my wifes grandmother had hours to live...so we raced after a day of camping to the hospital...she made it through the night but passed the next day...the wife took it really difficult yet she kept pretty quiet...with all these stresses as well as others i just didn't have it in me to write...but as time passes i will continue to write more....

now then...

Radiohead at the Hollywood Bowl:

Hollywood Bowl is one of the most awesome places to see a concert...but parking sucks really bad...i forgot you could take food into the venue so ended up spending 20 bucks on a water...soda...hot dog...and chips...

This was my first time seeing Radiohead live but have always heard of how awesome they were live...They surpassed my expectations...From the beginning of their set to the end was a light show from these tubular light bulbs hanging from the top of the stage to the bottom...the colors changed colors with the beat...there was then a still video camera on each band member that was shown on each side of the stage that kind of had an old style appearance.

Thom the lead singers voice is awesome live...First band that I have seen that is BETTER than their cd....

Another amazing part of their set was during their song "National Anthem", Jonny Greenwood, guitarist searches for radio stations and plays them on a delay...and different commercials are played during the song...its freakin awesome...at the end of National Anthem the Fletcher Jones Mercedes commercial was played...Rancho Cucamonga, Can you Hear Me?

My favorite song of the evening was Faust Arp...Freakin AWESOME live!! You see the still shot in this video

All in all was probably my favorite concert ive been to since Acoustic Christmas 05.

Setlist:
1. 15 Step
2. There There

4. All I Need
5. Pyramid Song

Motorboat Def...and Prison

This is for The Wrider

This is the definition for Motorboating and is from UrbanDictionary.com

The placement of one's face, specifically the mouth, into the area between a well-endowed woman's breasts, followed by a rapid shaking of the face in a side-to-side motion accompanied by yelling. The resulting sound that is created sounds similar to an outboard boat motor.

Sherry was wearing a low-cut top and Mike approached her and started motorboating in her cleavage.

This is my original post

PORTLAND, Ore. - A New York man who pleaded guilty to murder in Oregon in exchange for buckets of fried chicken will get calzones and pizza to go with his life sentence.

Tremayne Durham, 33, of New York City, admitted last month that he fatally shot Adam Calbreath, 39, of Gresham, in June 2006. Durham wanted to sell ice cream and ordered an $18,000 truck from an Oregon company. He later changed his mind, but the company wouldn't provide a refund.

The would-be ice cream man came to Oregon and killed Calbreath, a former employee of the company, while looking for its owner, authorities said.

Durham agreed to plead guilty to murder — but only if he could get a break from jail food. The judge agreed and granted Durham a feast of KFC chicken, Popeye's chicken, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, carrot cake and ice cream.

After Wednesday's sentencing, Durham was to get the rest of the deal — calzones, lasagna, pizza and ice cream, his defense attorney confirmed. They will pay the tab.

Durham also got married Wednesday in a civil ceremony at the Portland courthouse. The wedding to Vanessa Davis, 48, also of New York City, was not part of the plea deal that will give Durham a chance for parole after 30 years.

Deputy District Attorney Josh Lamborn said Multnomah County Judge Eric Bergstrom made the right call in allowing the unusual plea agreement because it saved the expense of a trial and possible appeals.

Ticketmaster

I was on ticketmaster.com today looking to purchase some tickets. You know that scrambled word that you have to type out to make sure you are actually a person and not a computer trying to purchase a lot of tickets...well...look what scrambled word popped up for me.
