Happy Thanksgiving All!

If you have nothing to do over this weekend may i suggest watching this movie..What Would Jesus Buy? It is a documentary about how Christmas has been turned into nothing but commercialism....they call it the Shopacolypse...Looks good...it is created from the same guy who created 30 Days, and Supersize Me.

oh Traffic...how do i hate thee

I left home early today to see if i can beat traffic; if there was any being Thanksgiving week...well..I left at 6:30 and I got to work at 8:30...yeah...didn't help...so since my week is filled with 4 hours of commuting each day, i thought I would post the following which comes from the Daily Bulletin here in the inland empire...

A Sig Alert, which is a warning broadcast by radio stations telling of unusual or hazardous traffic conditions, was named after the man who first coined the term, the late Loyd C. Sigmon.

Back in the '50s Sigmon was an executive at KMPC, a Southern California radio station.

In an effort to boost ratings for his station, Sigmon came up with a brilliant idea. He called the LAPD and asked them to telephone the radio station every time there was a significant traffic jam so that KMPC could broadcast the information to its listeners.

The LAPD informed Sigmon that their officers were far too busy doing things like catching bad guys and trying to keep order in a county of a few million people to stop and call a radio station every time there was a traffic tie-up. So Sigmon came up with a better plan. He proposed that the radio station could install a receiver that would be linked directly to the police.

Whenever a significant accident occurred, a signal could be sent from the police station that would allow the radio engineer to tap directly into police broadcasts of the traffic problem.

William H. Parker, the chief of police at the time, finally acquiesced and allowed the receiver to be set up, but only on the condition that all radio stations that were interested in broadcasting the alerts had access to them.

So while Sigmon did not gain the competitive advantage that he had hoped to achieve for his radio station, his system was successfully implemented in 1955. A skeptical Chief Parker was quoted as saying, "We're going to name this damn thing `Sig Alert."'

Sig Alerts, which are unique to Southern California, are now transmitted electronically through computer networks and are administered by the California Highway Patrol. The CHP will launch a Sig Alert if there is any unplanned event that causes the closing of one lane of traffic for 30 minutes or more, as opposed to a planned event like road construction.

The next time an overturned big rig or three-car collision ruins your freeway drive and pushes your stress levels to the boiling point, you might just want to head down to the pier in Santa Monica where you can slam your car into another car without having to worry about causing a traffic jam.

The Pacific Park bumper car ride is aptly named "The Sig Alert."

Re-Post

Sorry...I had to repost this

i have to say i left san fran on a sad note....if you havent heard there was a oil spill in the sf harbor area as a cargo ship crashed into the golden gate bridge sending over 50,000 gallons of oil into the water...the oil started drifting towards the area where my office was at and a boat came with these flotation devices to capture the oil...not more than 100 yards away from this were about 100 ducks and birds just kicking back in the water not knowing that danger and death were close. you see once the oil gets on the birds wings...they are unable to fly and eventually drown...so sad...

to go along with the sadness of the oil spill, i was reading my beatles book that i purchased while in SF...in it was a story of how the song Octopus Garden came to be. before reading this story, i always liked this song but just thought it was one of their acid trip dreams...anywho it is a real story as told by ringo. ringo was out on a fishing trip one day when the captain asked him if he wanted to have some octopus...ringo turned it down but the captain went onto a story about how an octopus lives its life day to day swimming along the bottom of the oceans floor collecting up shiny objects and stones to build a garden...crazy huh? ringo thought it was the happiest story he ever heard and thought to write a song about it...

Song of the Day..Octopus Garden - Beatles

I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade
He'd let us in, knows where we've been
In his octopus' garden in the shade

I'd ask my friends to come and see
An octopus' garden with me
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade.

We would be warm below the storm
In our little hideaway beneath the waves
Resting our head on the sea bed
In an octopus' garden near a cave

We would sing and dance around
because we know we can't be found
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade

We would shout and swim about
The coral that lies beneath the waves
(Lies beneath the ocean waves)
Oh what joy for every girl and boy
Knowing they're happy and they're safe
(Happy and they're safe)

We would be so happy you and me
No one there to tell us what to do
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden with you.

Black Friday plus KROQ predictions

Not today...but the day after Thanksgiving when Christmas items should be on store shelves and not after Halloween!

Anywho, those interested in what specials will be happening can check out this site Black Friday

Be careful when you go shopping though because according to the FBI, Al Qaeda May Strike U.S. Shopping Malls in LA, Chicago.

I am saving money to buy a new house next year so many peoples christmas presents will be baked goods and a dvd with favorite cartoons and concerts courtesy of you tube. I found a program that downloads you tube videos to avi files allowing you to burn onto a watchable dvd. Southern Wolf and classic Beatles anyone?

Another sign Christmas is coming fast, KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas is going to be announced Friday. I haven't put much thought to who is playing because music has simply sucked this year...if i had to guess i would guess the following:

Night One

NIN
Tool
Serj Tankian
Kid Rock
Bad Religion
Avenged Sevenfold (New song sucks)
Jon Davis (Acoustic / Solo)
Social Distortion

Night Two

The Killers
The Mars Volta
Angels and Airwaves
Daft Punk

Paramore
Jimmy Eat World
Spoon

Im probably way off...but F it

Last night in San Fran

Good bye San Fran...it was nice to know you for a week...

Today I went to Borders and picked up a copy of "Let it Be" a book about the Beatles album with the same name. So far i have read 5 pages and its already interesting..

I noticed that black people complain a lot up here...I'm not one to complain about complainers, but when people come in to complain about a meal that they had yesterday, really...is that necessary? By the looks of things it looked like they went back for seconds. I had Denny's breakfast this morning and one lady was complaining about some waitress from last nights shift saying that her food was cold...come on now...then today at a hot dog stand by my hotel, another lady was complaining because she phoned in a combo order yesterday and then decided she didn't want the drink with the combo...well...the guy who worked there charged her for the dog and fries which came out more than the combo somehow...she came back to complain about the 20 cent difference...since the manager wasn't in today or yesterday, she told the poor teen behind the counter that shes gonna come chew the managers ass out tomorrow...shes waisted more that 20 cents in gas...or bus pass...or time walking...this place is pretty ghetto and i cant wait to get back home..

Hey All

Yeah I know I haven't posted in a while...

Well last week you know the winds were pretty bad...well they may have been pretty bad in the 714 but here in the 9....well add a 0 to that 9 and that was the gusts that we had at my place...90 mph gusts..with about 50 mph sustained..it ripped the roof off of my neighbor's porch and it landed against my house...at midnight mind you..it ripped off freeway signs like you ripping a piece of paper in half...a palm tree fell on another house...I slept 3 hours the first night of the winds...

With all the smoke and fires we literally had like no sun for a week...

Birdman..tell Reena I sayz Hello!

I took some cool pics

The sun beyond the smoke...Ash on my car...Traffic...Traffic (Keep in mind the last picture is only 30 miles from Los Angeles)
